Our Founding Story: Building Community, One Game at a Time

Below the Belt Sports was founded in 2024 by brothers Morgan and Chandler Roth, inspired by their Southern upbringing and the resilience of the local LGBTQIA+ community. Growing up in the South, we saw firsthand the challenges and triumphs that come with building inclusive spaces—especially in sports, where belonging and acceptance can make all the difference.
We created Below the Belt Sports, Inc. as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with one clear goal: to provide safe, welcoming, and fun sporting events for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies across the Southeastern U.S. Our mission is rooted in three core pillars: community engagement, philanthropy, and the joy of sport. We believe that sports are more than just games—they’re opportunities to bring people together, break barriers, and create lasting impact.
Our flagship event, the Below the Belt Cup, is set to launch in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 3–5, 2025. Featuring Kickball, Dodgeball, and Indoor Volleyball, this tournament will welcome over 1,500 participants in a celebration of competition, camaraderie, and pride. We’re committed to making our events accessible and affordable, thanks in part to generous support like the Walmart Spark Good grant and the dedication of our growing team.

Since day one, we’ve prioritized collaboration—with local venues, community partners, and passionate volunteers—to ensure every event reflects the diversity and strength of our community. As we grow, we remain focused on our founding vision: creating inclusive spaces where everyone is welcome, both on and off the field.
Whether you’re an athlete, ally, volunteer, or supporter, we invite you to join us in building something special. Together, we’re not just playing games—we’re changing the game for LGBTQIA+ sports in the South.
